2013 PPI Razor Spyder GTR Audi R8 World Debut
At this year’s Concorso Italiano, magnificent Italian cars dotted the lush fairways of the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch as far as the eye can see. To our surprise one piece of German machinery found its way onto the green in the midst of the polished herd of Italian livery. We stopped in our tracks when we came across the PPI Razor Spyder GTR. This Audi R8 V10, tuned by PPI, drew a crowd despite the absence of Italian ancestry.
Designed in California (San Francisco Office) and engineered in Germany by exclusive Audi tuner PPI Speed Design. The Razor features huge fender flares and liberal use of aluminum-reinforced carbon fiber. Virtually every body panel was modified on the base Audi R8 V10 Spyder. The overhead twin air intakes feeds cool air to the engine and the forged wheels, massive brake calipers and a track tuned suspension ensures fast lap times. Most of the buzz was generated by the unique ported door design. This German supercar is low, wide and stunning while moving or standing still.
Modifications were not limited to the exterior, the PPI tuned V10 creates 621 horsepower and 417 lb-ft torque. This potent powerplant launches the all wheel drive RAZOR from 0 – 62 in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 208 mph!
The Razor interior features carbon fiber seats that are heated and cooled. The distinctive doors were designed to offer an open air driving experience even with the top closed. Extensive wind tunnel testing ensures minimal wind buffering in the cockpit. Imagine the view of the road at triple digit speeds, truly sensory overload.
