While the housing is metal the drawer itself is plastic and that’s not really a problem however what is a small problem is the spring to pop out the drawer is very weak so you may have to try several times for it to pop out far enough to grab.

1 of 1 found this helpful It's a good scale and over all I would recommend it however if I can just point out a few negatives.
First is that quality is lacking in some places as display housing looks cheap and also the stainless steel is very thin so when i went to weigh myself "195LB" i was worried as it started to bend however it did pop back into shape when i got off.
Second is that I can't seem to set it to LB & OZ by default so every time you turn it on you need to wait a few seconds to change it but other then that I like it.
