From small boxes come big images
These boring-looking box speakers are one of the best vintage-speaker bargains running on eBay as long as they are in good shape and fully functional. The driver complement is the same as DCM's Timeframe 400 speakers, which I also own. Both speakers sound absolutely superb, and they have stereo imaging abilities that will continually surprise you when correctly placed in your room, although the CX-27s are just a little less able in the imaging department-- but the image is still just huge. For their size, the 27s also have really good low bass extension, though the detail in the mids / highs is the real highlight here and some listeners may still want to pair them with a sub (not me, personally). I've really only heard DCM speakers from the late 80s and early 90s; these are all really "sweet" speakers, in the sense that they seem to greatly sweeten sources and can make pretty much anything sound good (without excessive high or low end hype). If you want brutal honesty or etched-in-air levels of detail, you may want to look into another brand, but I can promise you that the DCMs sound consistently impressive no matter what you put through them.

Final Audio E1000 Hi-Res In-Ear Headphones Earbuds Earphones (Black), Open Box

    Best in class
For an experienced listener who values a neutral but engaging set of phones that are good for all genres and eras, these are some of the very best IEMs I have tried at the under $50 and even $100 price point. Honest reproduction, spectrally balanced, and sufficiently detailed with just enough sparkle and plenty adequate bass extension. The E500s are also an excellent value and very similar. However, the E1000s have a bit more air for more satisfying low-volume listening, without resulting peaky or fatiguing treble at higher volume levels. Both models are comfortable as IEMs go and low-profile in the ear. I would recommend the E1000 without hesitation to most users and I hope Final comes out with a detachable cable version or sonic equivalent someday.
TCTech 16GB Small Digital Voice Recorder

    Destined for instant landfill status
This thing has only been good for a laugh - some of the worst engineering I have ever seen is on display here. Records only at a fixed 16kHz sample rate, which I haven't seen any device use since Myst was big. The mic is awful too, even for a cheap consumer device. The symmetrical control layout - bookended by two sliding switches of identical length - is impossible to use blind / eyes-free. Whether or not it will actually charge (even when turned on, as the manual insists you must do before charging... wait, what?) and/or turn on *after* charging seems to be hit or miss, no way to set time/date for file timestamps without running a mystery unsigned executable on a Windows box (suggestion: don't ever, ever do this). I'm quite positive this is not a defective unit, just horrific, lazy, half-baked engineering across the board, and I'd be displeased with my purchase at a third of the price. For the money you can easily find a used or refurb voice recorder from a name manufacturer that may be a bit bigger in your pocket, but will perform a lot more usefully.
