It's a pad, you connect to a usb power source, then just place a compatible phone on top. My phone is a Samsung galaxy note 4 (with charging case), it also works with a moded note 2. the average pull from the device reads at 660ma to 744ma - if you're lucky..., based on the galaxy charging current app, it wont get higher than that, on the note 2 however, it stays around 500ma to 550ma probably because of the modification to make it work. the cord that came with it is definitely genuine, reading shows 1200ma to 1600ma which will charge my note 4 in 5 minutes depending on usage. Don't count on leaving the phone in the pad and doing something which will be a battery hog, it'll just slowly drain it rather than recharge. I'll definitely use it with the powerbank that I already have, it'll be a lot easier than just pulling out the battery bank and cord just to charge it when I can just slip it in and it'll start charging right away. Very disappointed in this charger. While convenient compared to plugging in a cable, it is much slower than the adaptive fast charging cable charger. Plus, all 3 of our Samsung phones (one S6 and two Note 5's) have occasional to frequent connection problems. It will charge for a while (a few minutes to say a half hour), then it will quit charging and go to abnormal charging mode, and you have to remove it and replace it to get it to connect again and start charging. This sucks when you leave it overnight or during an errand or movie only to come back later to find it still at 20%. Also, the LED indicator is opposite the power plug; this works great on a desk where the cord drops down the back and you are facing the led, but this is terrible for a counter or table where you have to drop the cord down the front because then the led indicator is facing the wall, and you can't see if the phone is actually charging or in standby (abnormal charging) mode.Read full review

Charging pads work through cases, if you plug into a wall plug with the built-in USB sockets. The "2 amp" transformer that comes with it, is useless. All charging pads send very weak current to your phone's receiver coil to limit heat units. Most of these pads are too weak. These are a minute fraction stronger, but barely. The designers of these pads designed them assuming no case is used. That 2 mm distance caused by a case is enough to make them not work! Most people don't place their phones in cases, because they think the clunky cases aren't cool, or they don't know how to attach them (really!). What's not cool is the chipped, cracked face these people will eventually have on their phone, because they don't understand all phones use an ultra-thin glass face (even gorilla glass shatters), that is best protected by a variety of cases with face shields. Unfortunately, there is not a specific wireless inductive charging pad designed to take this into consideration. Another half-cooked product.Read full review
