Beautiful book for knitters & history buffs alike!
This marvelous book is much, much more than directions for knitting the featured garments. It includes the history of the Tudors, a genealogical chart of the Tudor Dynasty, fabulous pictures of the knitted garments, and, of course, Alice Starmore's patterns so that you can make them for yourself! Now these patterns are not for beginners. Rather, they are more for very experienced knitters. BUT, there are a few sweaters such as the one for Elizabeth Woodville and the one for Margaret Beaufort that advanced beginners could learn from. Don't be afraid to rip things out if you make a mistake. If I had a nickel for every time, I've ripped out something I've been working on, I'd be rich & I've been knitting for 49 years. And the photos of the garments are exquisite! The details are amazing right down to the jewelry and hairstyles. I highly recommend this book for knitters and history buffs alike!

Nirvana Needle Arts Ebony Cable Needles Set 3

    Another way to recycle.
You may not know this but these beautiful cable needles are made from the ebony wood left over from making certain high end pianos (like Steinways). They work well and there are other cable needles which work as well. BUT, they are not made from ebony and so beautifully polished. They are workhorses & eye candy at the same time. To me, this makes them well worth the price.

    Fabulous sock patterns!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the FIRST knitting pattern book I have ever purchased which contained such wonderful patterns that I love every one of them and have already gone through my sock yarn stash and matched the patterns to certain yarns so that I know which yarn will be perfect for which pattern. Boy am I ever going to have a fabulous sock collection!!!!! In addition to the beauty of the patterns, they are laid out in a clear and easy to understand and work with manner. And the pictures of the socks are large and well photographed so that the stitch details are easy to see. This increases the ease of noticing any mistake you might be making. I have purchased another pattern book recently and find that not all of the chart notations are explained in the glossary of symbols at the end of the book making a pattern I want to use for a scarf unusable. Not the case with this book. If you love to make [and wear] socks, you will LOVE this book!!
