How to use search

There are several ways to use our search functions to help you find exactly what you’re looking for and keep track of items once you’ve found them.

Whether you’re browsing, looking for a specific item, or trying to track down a seller you bought from in the past, we have tools to help. Our search bar is at the top of most eBay pages. Type in what you’re looking for, and we’ll find the most relevant items that match your search.

Here’s an overview of the different ways you can search on eBay and how to keep track of items once you find them.

Advanced search

While our standard search is a great starting point for finding what you need, use advanced search to find a specific item, category, or eBay Store quickly and easily.

Saved searches

If you regularly search for the same types of items on eBay, save time by creating saved searches. They can help you keep track of items, and we’ll send you email alerts when new items matching your search are listed.

Your Watch List

Use your watch list to keep track of up to 300 items that you’re interested in but aren’t quite ready to bid on or buy. You can view the items saved to your watch list in My eBay, where you can also filter, remove, and compare items. You can set notifications, so you know when the listings you’re watching end.
