Nike released the Air Jordan 12 Royalty in November 2021. Air Jordan 12s with their Black-and-Yellow arch and outsole are called the "Taxi" colorways because they remind people of New York City taxis. This sneaker now has Gold eyelets, embroidery, and tongue accents.

The inspiration for the design came in part from Japan's Rising Sun, or "Nisshoki," flag. In addition, they were inspired by a woman's dress boot from the 19th century. A stitched leather pattern radiates outward, and this theme continues on the shoe's arch.

The Nike Swoosh logo no longer appears on the sneaker. It was inside the shoe on previous designs, but the shoes still came in a Nike box.
