Offering combined shipping

When a buyer purchases multiple items from you, you can save time and money by sending all their items in one package.

Before you can offer combined shipping to your buyers, make sure to update your Shipping Preferences to offer shipping discounts. See our Shipping discounts article for information on how to set up combined shipping rules and automatically offer combined shipping discounts on your listings.

How to combine shipping fees if the buyer hasn't paid yet

If a buyer is purchasing multiple items from you, and they haven't already benefited from a shipping discount, they can select Request combined shipping in their shopping cart. You can then send them an invoice with the new combined costs if you have combined invoices enabled on your account. Here's how to check:

  1. On the Shipping Preferences - opens in new window or tab page, select Edit beside Allow invoice requests.
  2. Set 'Requests allowed' to Yes and choose the time period during which you're willing to combine payment for purchased items.
  3. Select Save.

You can then issue a combined invoice to your buyer. To do this from My eBay:

  1. Go to the Orders - opens in new window or tab section.
  2. Select the items you want to combine into a single invoice.
  3. From the Actions menu, select Send Invoice.

To issue a combined invoice from Seller Hub:

  1. Go to Orders - opens in new window or tab.
  2. Check the box beside any orders that need to be combined.
  3. Select Send Invoice for any of the orders selected.

There are certain situations when a buyer won't be able to request combined shipping through the shopping cart. For example, if the items are discounted, free shipping is already offered, or the listings are set up to require immediate payment. Learn more about issuing invoices and combining payments.

Combining shipping fees after the buyer paid

If a buyer has already paid for shipping, you can still offer a combined shipping discount by sending a partial refund to the buyer from Orders in Seller Hub - opens in new window or tab or My eBay - opens in new window or tab.

Shipping multiple orders in a combined package

If you're shipping multiple orders to the same buyer in a single package, you can create a shipping label using the Bulk Shipping Tool. Learn more about combining multiple orders with a single shipping label.

What's not eligible for combined shipping?

Not all items are eligible for combined shipping. Some examples include:

  • Items in the PSA Vault
  • Items listed with Local pickup
  • Most items that require Authenticity Guarantee checks, except for multiple quantity purchases of the same streetwear item or sneakers
  • Items that are purchased with Best Offer
  • eBay International Shipping items in specific categories

Even if an item is eligible for combined shipping, it is your decision whether to combine eligible items or offer any combined shipping discounts.

Combining shipping for eBay Live orders

Eligible shipping discounts will be automatically applied to each paid order if:

  • You have already applied combined shipping rules or shipping policies to the items linked to your live event
  • Your orders were placed within the window of 4 hours prior to and 8 hours following your event start time

Paid orders would include examples such as a won auction item or manually paid for Buy it Now item.

By setting up combined shipping rules in your Shipping Preferences, you can automatically offer combined shipping to your buyers. By sending everything in one package, you'll save time and the buyer will save money.
