The boombox silver medalist.
If you can't afford a JVC RC-M90, then the M70 is the next best thing. However, know what you're getting yourself into. Even if the unit is cosmetically clean externally, it will require a lot of work (regardless of whatever these sellers are telling you): vacuuming out the internals; DeOxit D5/F5 of the switches, faders, and pots; driver belt changes, demagnetizing the capstans/heads, etc. These beautiful machines are for aficionados only, because remember they are over 30 years old. Vintage can be a treasure, but not if you aren't willing to put in the elbow grease to restore these beautiful workhorse machines.

4 of 4 found this helpful While not fully obsolete, the Q1 has aged. Yet, it’s still stellar IQ. When purchasing off eBay, however, look for dust. Dust getting onto the sensor is a HUGE issue with these cameras, and purchased 2nd hand you’ll have to front that cost with no warranty. Put gaffers tape over the mic and speakers.
