Epic cd by the gr8est band of the last 3 decades!
An epic disc by the most talented & influential band of the last 30 years. In addition, I had the honor of meeting the band on their last US tour, post-gig in Detroit & they were humble and obviously not beyond their working class roots & lyrical context. They hung around till the last fan had their picture taken or album signed, personally we conversed about what literature Ritchie was currently reading and discussing the state of education both in the UK & the US.

gr8 film
You certainly can simply watch this film as a Cold War epic about the potential horrors of nuclear detonation & be very happy. There is another level which is why i chose this film for showing to students, and that is the danger of simply accepting information, whether it comes from the internet, a textbook, or in this case the government. Wonderfully artistic without the gore of most war films, the use of animation helps as well in keeping it student or child appropriate. The Bowie music is now sadly nostalgic, and could be a reason to watch in and of itself, if you are a Bowie fan; but most of all i use it to raise the conscious critical thinking of both my sons and my students.
