Does the job and nicely made
Each of these lamps has two heads on goose neck stalks. Each head has four LEDs for a total of eight LEDS per lamp. Each head has a switch for OFF/LOW/HIGH. If the heads are balanced the lamp will stand on its own on a flat surface. The clip spring is strong enough for most purposes. The clip is well made: the top half is articulated at the far end. Soft rubber pads are provided on the clip ends. I use this as an instrument light for a vintage military radio. One head on LOW is bright enough to read all of the controls. Two heads on LOW is bright enough for reading and writing logs.

Very good multiband portable depending on price
2 of 2 found this helpful The Eton Grundig Edition Satellit is the same radio as the Eton Executive Satellit but with a black face and no leather flap cover. I purchased one brand new ten days ago for less than $120 USD shipped and consider that a great bargain. However, I have seen these radios priced from $180 for the black Satellit to well over $200 for the Executive Satellit. The Satellit is not as good a radio as the Sangean ATS-909X which may be purchased for just over $200. I have a 909X purchased new two years ago. The Satellit sound quality is just average for a radio of its size. It sounds tinny compared to the slightly larger 909X. The Satellit buttons are a bit stiff to press. The tuning rate control is accomplished by pressing the tuning dial in. Two hands are needed to do this, one for holding the radio from moving. MW (AM Broadcast band) performance is good and so is FM, which benefits from RDS features (like the 909X). Shortwave sensitivity is better than the 909X when using whip antennas and equal to the 909X when using external antennas. Expect to spend some time with the instruction book to learn how to operate all of the features. Shortwave performance is good but the Satellit exhibits an irritating degree of muting while tuning SW and MW frequencies. SSB reception is the best available on a multiband portable thanks to the 10 Hz fine tuning resolution for SSB. The Sync function is OK but not particularly effective. The DSP controlled variable bandwidth feature is disappointing. The filter settings seem much wider than labeled on the radio display and the filter skirts are sloppy. I like the two ceramic filters on the 909X better because of the sharper skirts. There is no RF gain control on the Satellit, only a LOCAL/DX switch which works for SW but not MW. The orange-lit LCD display is attractive and may be set to stay lit, a nice feature. The display intensity is adjustable, a nice touch. On the downside the display is hard to read when not lit so expect higher than normal battery drain just to light the display. Overall, the Satellit is quite a decent radio depending on price paid, but not the best small multiband portable available.

Good NOS #1847 Lamps
Purchased for four dial lamps on a restored Hammarlund SP-600 communications receiver. #1847 has exactly the same voltage, amp and watt rating as #47. The difference is #47 is rated as a 3000 hour bulb and the #1847 is a 5000 hour bulb. These are NOS made in USA GE bulbs with brass bases and green insulator beads. Being NOS, some light cleaning is required of the glass bulbs and bases. The positive contact brightens up with a dry rag. The filaments show some variation in centering and are placed at a uniformly high location in the glass bulb. The glass bulb has a shallow molding seam which may project patterns on illuminated surfaces. Being a longer life bulb these lamps are not quite as bright as #47 and the color is tinted a toward yellow-red as opposed to a whiter white. I found this to be an advantage for the Hammarlund dials which are glaringly bright at night with #47s. All lamps tested good.
