Strong, but too short, and with heavy loads may swing right or left
1 of 1 found this helpful This device was fairly easy to install and works pretty much as described. The good points: it is strong and shows absolutely no sign of ever bending. The lack of vertical support is not a problem at all. The "Type A" configuration clears the rear wheel nicely.
I do feel it has two shortcomings, however. It is very short. I can hold a small case, but larger items stick out from the end and threaten to fall off if not firmly tied down with bungee cords. For a child or for a small bicycle, it might be long enough, but I could have used a longer rack.
Also, I have found that it may swing around a bit. I know, I can tighten the clamp that holds it to the seat post to keep it firmly straight, but there is a limit to how much I am willing to tighten it without actually damaging the seat post. Possibly, over time, with firm clamping, it will settle into place, but there has been some movement during the first few weeks of using this.
If this post were longer, and had an improved method of clamping to the seat post, I think it would be a better product. While I like it, I am also considering other options.
