does what it says in all the reviews and much more.

this is a very good camcorder, easy to get good hi-def film and good sound without having to juggle with the settings menu. unlike the latest generation of video cams it is fitted with an eye viewfinder which i find invaluable as most of my work is done outdoors and the glare from bright sunlight makes easy meat of cutting out reflections. battery life is good but i have purchased an extra battery pack as backup. this is the second Cannon video i have owned and the hand book is easy to follow if you be a bit creative with the cameras many features which is great fun to try out. the provision of a connection and bracket for an external mic is a well worth while feature and makes a real difference to outdoor directional sound quality. in short a nice bit of kit at an affordable price. (it also does very good stills to a mini sd card as you would expect from cannon lenses)

good item really bad instruction book

i am a real fan of panasonic gear and this no exeption. however it was a nightmare to set up, the instruction book was worse than useless being written in techno gibberish. however i am not a total plank with this type of gear (tv sets pc,s laptops ect are no prob to me) so once things were sorted it played a blinder. the picture quality is brill and the twin tuner function comes in really handy. muliti timer functions are a breeze to set and cancel with a minimum of clicks. it is also very slim and feather light so no strain on my unit. So as long as you are not fazed by a bit of self sorting this is a good item time will tell how well made it is so fingers crossed. good luck
