Replacement mailbox door
Purchase this item for a plastic mailbox, which was not recommended in the item description . However I was able to cut the plastic mailbox 4” inside the brick housing of the brick mailbox and use a rotor tool with a masonry blade, a hammer and chisel to reshape the mailbox opening to get the replacement door installed. I used flex seal tape inside to cover the gap and tape it so it looks like one continuous piece. This took about 2 hours but I can see where it would take 5 minutes if only I had a metal mailbox like my neighbor. This was still much faster than trying to remove the entire plastic box bc it was mortared in there pretty securely and would have taken all day to remove. Very please with the item. It’s a heavy cast iron construction and the brass handle really stands out.
