You just can't beat manufacturer batteries for quality
Purchased this Sony NP-FV70A battery "open box" here on eBay. Was still expensive, but about half the price of what it would have cost me new sealed. You can't beat genuine Sony batteries for longevity. In my experience, aftermarket batteries NEVER last as long as manufacturer ones. And they inflate the specs of their batteries to some outrageous claim. So it's a trade off ... pay a higher price for quality, and get longer recording time on one battery, or suffer with reduced performance, having to change batteries more frequently, and carry more batteries in your bag while saving a little money. For my new Sony AX53 4K camcorder, I decided to pay a higher cost and enjoy better performance.

Works just like Samsung, but is a knock-off
This remote works pretty much like the original Samsung AA59-00580A remote. I say pretty much because the backlight button doesn't backlight the keys, it simply illuminates the volume and channel buttons red, the rest of the keys stay dark. But for the functions of the buttons, I have found them to work just like the original remote. This remote is offered at a great price ... doesn't have quite the quality and feel of the original remote but close enough.

THE BEST Consumer Camcorder
1 of 1 found this helpful I really like the small, compact, upright form factor of this HV10 camcorder. I upgraded to a HV10 from another upright, a Sony PC330, which was a non-HD cam also using a miniDV tape. The difference in video quality going from DV of the PC330 to HDV of the HV10 was incredible! It is the same as going from SD television to a nice HDTV set.
In my opinion, the Canon HDV camcorders give the most realistic pictures and sharpest images. This HV10 camcorder does very well in low light conditions like inside around the Christmas tree or for birthday parties where the room isn't always as bright as you want it to be.
Read around the web - the HDV standard on miniDV tape is STILL much better than the AVCHD format found on hard drive or flash drive cams. Plus AVCHD isn't as compatible and takes a top-of-the-line computer to process properly. Then, where are you going to store all your data over the years, not to mention you will want to back up, meaning you need double the storage space. HDV on miniDV is already archived and processes more quickly on a computer, so to me, is the preferred format.
The HV10 itself was Canon's first HDV camcorder, and the following HV20 and HV30 models share the same optics. Those models change to a more traditional form factor and silver (HV20) or black (HV30) color, with the only add-ons being mic input and HDMI output. But the component video out to a HDTV is every bit as good as HDMI.
Deciding between HV10 and HV20/30 really comes down to your form factor preference, if you need a mic input (most consumers don't), and price. Me, I chose the HV10, have been using it for about a year, and feel I'll stick with this camcorder for many more years to come.
