No bios update needed (Lenovo G550)
1 of 1 found this helpful I had a T8100, but I wanted to get the best processor that will run on my Lenovo G550 (NITU1 motherboard). It started right way, with no bios update. I've also applied a thin layer of Arctic Silver on it. The fan seems to do a good job in keeping it cool. I wouldn't say the fan now rarely takes off, but it does only for a short period of time. It's not a big jump in performance from T8100. Buy it only if you worry about the 20% extra performance that you can get out of your laptop.
