Turntable
1 of 1 found this helpful Basically the same as a Radio Shack turntable I bought 25 years ago for $99. RS called it "Realistic LAB-340". Both RS and AT use the aluminum platter, belt driven idea and both have a pre-amp. Although I don't use the preamp because I hook this turntable to my stereo system. It's economical. The next step up might be $250 to $350 for a turntable that will allow you to adjust the tracking force. I had a Dual 1249 that did that. Only drawback I see is the phono output is slightly weak. I noticed I had to turn up the volume or recording level for when recording. 25 years ago I used the RS to transfer my records to tape. It finally went bust (one channel went out). So I needed another turntable as I want to transfer my records to CDs. Yeah - who has vinyl records anymore?

SMALLER than Radio Shack Micronta
1 of 2 found this helpful Needle swings and whacks itself. they must have cut back on damping movement. But try this : place the enclosed instruction pamphlet over the meter face. Later remove the pamphlet and quickly notice if the needle moves. Possible electric field of pamphlet cause needle to move?
