Combination of Ys and Eiyuu Densetsu, Amazing Gameplay, Great Soundtracks, and Lots of Easter Eggs
1 of 1 found this helpful This game is very Falcom-ish. System and graphic engine is almost the same as Sen no Kiseki. But the gameplay is totally different.
Graphics:
Once I thought Falcom can only model fantasy scenes, but Tokyo Xanadu totally changed my opinion. The modern scene construction is truly awesome. From the city layout, to the detail in the drug store, everything seems realistic and reflective. Optimization is getting much better, I can tell Falcom is getting used to PS Vita development.
Gameplay:
Telling the truth, I hated Action RPGs, because they seems so hard to play. That is why I don't play Ys that much. However, Tokyo Xanadu presents ARPG in a "smarter" way. The battle is no longer pure hack n' slash. How to use strategy, elements advantage, and skills are essential to the game. Not like Freedom Wars or God Eater, Tokyo Xanadu does not require crazy camera adjustment, but a good sense of adjusting camera will still be useful when beating up bosses. This game is also trophy-friendly: the boss battle does not count part of dungeon rating. So players not good at ARPG can still have chance to platinum.
Soundtrack:
Soundtrack is always awesome in Falcom's games. Some of the BGM actually comes from Sen no Kiseki, but most of them are newly made. Battle music is enthusiastic, just as Eiyuu Densetsu series.
Misc:
A lot of easter eggs from Sen no Kiseki. The game center's mini-games are all based on Sen no Kiseki, easier version of Blade, harder version of fishing ... (Though I really wish to play POM!)
This game is just addictive to play. Overall it is very good.
