Reconstruction failed, and we need to understand why.
This book addresses the post-Civil War Reconstruction period, detailing the post war efforts to create a more perfect union. In the end, the effort failed, leaving the US to combat systemic economic, legal and social racism to this day. Everyone should read this book and understand this important chapter in US history and racism.
