John Lee Hooker at His Best
This CD is a collection of songs that John recorded with various artists whenever they were in town. There are a couple new tunes, but for the most it's packed with JLH favorites. The list of guest artists is also impressive. Work on this CD was actually started long before John passed, and it was finished by his daughter Zakiya Hooker and her husband Ollan Christopher ("Chris James" from the Natural Four). I was lucky enough to work on this project, and I tracked my guitar parts with Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane). The songs on this CD are not the raw JLH that lots of people always look for, but it shows another side of a great musician. Finally, this CD is very hard to find, and I lost my copy so I wanted to get another one!
