Lovelife - Lush (CD 1996)
Lovelife is the third and final album by the British dream pop/shoegazing band. This is the only album where they all but abandoned their dream pop/shoegazer styled sound and went for a more Britpop sound of 1995. To be blunt, this was their first attempt (and last) at making a hit pop album instead of another artistic dream pop album (otherwords, they sold out). Interestingly enough, the album cover art is very late 60's looking with it's cheery and colorful in appearance (all other releases looked serious and/or gloomy). Also, you would not know it was Lush "the band", based on the fact that they do not appear on it - in fact the cover gives one the impression that it might be a new rap or R&B CD. Following the album's release, Chris Acland hung himself on October 17, 1996 thus eventually resulting in the end of Lush.
To sum it up, this is a very good album being they took a more honest approach and melded various styles together to create this album. It still is not their greatest artistic album, but a great pop crafted album with the hooks to keep you singing songs from this one for quite a while.
Notes:
1. Produced by Pete Bartlett, engineered by Giles Hall.
2. Jarvis Cocker from Pulp does a duet with Miki Berenyi on "Ciao!"
3. "Single Girl" and "Ladykiller" became their two biggest hit singles.
4. The album became a British Top 20 hit.
5. It was their highest-charting album in the USA at 189.

Light & Magic - Ladytron (CD 2002)
The cosmopolitan electroclash foursome return with their second album. This album is a logical progression from their debut album, '604'. The album balances their pop and experimental instincts with more dance orientated stylings than '604'. Ladytron was one of the original pioneers of the electroclash sound, influencing other bands that emerged after their first EP (Miss Black and Her Friends, 1999).
This "extension" of '604' is their last of their Krautrock/new wave synth style experimentation as the next two albums would take on a more pop rock/dance style.
