A must read for WW1 history buffs. Understand the Brits better.
Saw this recommended on WW1 Forum. First book I've read about such a specific war event. It does become a little repetitive with details but the differences about results on different sections are key to the focus.
Naming people and places make the book what it is... a testimony to the horrors of the day.
I did expect more explanation of why the leaders made so many mistakes. Like why they would expect the artillery softening would be so successful. They should have known how deeply the Germans were dug in and how good there defenses were positioned.
Anyway, I'm glad I read it. Wife and I visited this area in 2014 and would also recommend going there.

Tough looking belt
This belt appears tougher than the after market belts I've been using for many years. I broke down and spent the extra money and I think I made a good decision.
