Beautiful and Just Challenging Enough
Beautiful, challenging, but not frustrating. I really enjoyed this puzzle, especially the in-between size of 750 pieces. The deer are lovely. I admit the background had me grinding my teeth at times, but never to the "I give up!" point, and the end result was worth it. I never glue and frame my puzzles because I like to do the best ones over again later, but this one would certainly tempt me to frame it, if I ever did that. (Just a note: the aggravating sticker did peel off, carefully, so the box cover is pretty to look at, too.)

Rare Look at a Zoo Elephant's Birth
I found this very interesting although (as I expected) a little upsetting in terms of how the mother was chained and the baby taken away immediately for weighing, etc. This was the normal procedure in most zoos at the time, which I knew beforehand so I had braced myself. (This probably wouldn't disturb anyone who hasn't seen how normally the mother is "all over" her baby, helping it to stand, guiding it to where to nurse if she's an experienced mother, etc. She is constantly touching and caressing and reassuring the tiny baby.) It might still be the case in many places, but San Diego Zoo Safari Park has let their babies be born "with the herd" for many years now and I hope others do the same. The backstory of the mother's pregnancy, on through the calf's birth and up to his six-month birthday was well-documented.. And oh, was that little guy adorable! (He is now grown-up, of course, and a fine big bull, living at another zoo.)
I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of the DVD quality, since it was produced by the local TV station. I was quite amazed at how excellent the video and audio was, totally professional, in fact better than some of the "professional" things I've seen. The "additional footage" alone is worth the price, especially when Louie is playing in the water! I was happy with my purchase and it's a great addition to my "elephant library."

Absolutely Adorable
If you like snowmen ornaments to hang on the tree or stand on a shelf in a group (or single one), this is absolutely a wonderful one to add to your Christmas decorations. The painted details are beautifully done and the "snow" has just the slightest glitter the way real snow looks in the light, nothing gaudy, everything very classy. These are hand-painted, I presume, so there might be some variation in color, etc., but my copy was lovely and I couldn't be happier with it.
