Good size for holding in your hands, but can put it on the table if you prefer.
This is my second one. The first one broke - after getting quite 'heavy' use for about 23-24 years. There were no problems with the first one at all. The new one, though, has had problems from the first time I took it out of the packaging. The sounds/voices are much lower-pitched and much, much S-L-O-W-E-R than my original game. When it is first turned on - right from the start, and continuing through 'now,' many of the black 'symbols' remain lit, very dark, so much so that you cannot use the game at all until they gradually fade away. There is much flickering and it takes quite a while for the black symbols to fade enough so you can see what is REALLY on the board to play the game. I'm sure all that flickering and all the lit-up black symbols probably waste the battery power, too. What I LIKE about this game is that is waits for me - it doesn't start over or continue playing without me (well, the other 'characters' take their turns, but then they wait for me to come back if I get busy or distracted with something else for a while. I can pick up where I left off (after waiting for all those black characters/symbols to start to flicker and slowly fade away). It saves my game for me. Many other games just turn off and you just 'lose' if you have to put it down for a few minutes. So I guess there's good and there's bad, and you just have to decide which one outweighs the other. If my *original* game had the flickering/symbols lit up problem, I'd never have bought a replacement when the thing finally quit working.
