Awesome camera in a small package!
2 of 2 found this helpful I'm one of those guys that needs a camera with me just about everywhere I go...and not just my cell phone. Going out to a cool new restaurant? grab the camera. Hitting up the local flea market? grab the camera. Invited to a friend's kid's birthday party? grab the camera.
The camera i was grabbing for all of these occasions, and more, was my D7000 with battery grip and Sigma 18-50 2.8. Quite a handful to lug around.
Started researching compact mirrorless cameras, and the cream that rose to the top in my price range was the OM-D EM10 Mark II. I have had it for about 3 weeks, and i am SO glad i invested in this thing. I find that I'm actually shooting more because of the compact size and ease of use.
If youve researched this camera at all, you're familiar with the features, so i wont repeat them for you. instead, what i will do is tell you my 2 FAVORITE features.
First, the wifi capability...as a photog, i am rarely in photos, including when my wife and i are out together. Being able to set the camera up, connect it to my phone, see a realtime view of the composition, change basic settings like speed, ISO, and aperture, and then capture the photo with a tap of the screen is just amazing. In addition, transferring photos (jpg only) to the phone allow me to edit and post them to social media or email them without even opening my laptop. AWESOME!
Secondly, the 5-axis stabilization...one of the hesitations i had with getting into another camera system was the cost. would i have to buy a myriad of lenses to suit my needs? would i have to invest in superfast glass to get decent low-light performance? NOPE. so far i only have the 14-42 kit lens (3.5-5.6), but the stabilization lets me take longer exposures handheld (I'm talking like 1/10 sec). AMAZING!
if you're in the market for a compact camera packed with features, this might be the one for you. Tack on a reasonable price, and youve got yourself a gem.
