Lionel O Scale New York Central 0-6-0 Dockside Switcher Steam Engine 6-28650 NIB
Jan 18, 2022
Nice-looking little loco that pulls well, but has BIG design problems!
This 2004 edition of the classic NYC "dockside" switcher from Lionel is a very nice looking little loco and pulls really well, but has some serious problems with electrical contact with the track and the side rod bolts loosening. The center pair of drivers is equipped with tiny springs above the "floating" axle bearings that are intended to exert downward force on the axle to keep these wheels in contact with the rails, but they do not exert enough downward force to prevent "choppy" operation, causing the loco to reverse direction unpredictably when in the "reversing" operation mode. I have had to replace the tiny "stock" springs with stiffer ones of the same size from D. R. Templeman to address this problem. In addition, the front driver pair, which is powered by the motor via worm and gear, should have been designed with the traction tires. Instead, the traction tires are on the rearmost pair of drivers, requiring that the driving force be transferred to them through the side rods from the front driver pair. This results in the side rod bolts on the front driver pair and the rear driver pair loosening via precessional forces, necessitating the use of "blue" LocTite (don't use red!) to keep the bolts tight. So, unless you are willing to "mess around" with a brand new loco out of the box as I have had to, I would avoid this particular edition of this loco from Lionel.
LIONEL SPERRY TMCC SPEEDER O GAUGE railroad engine Rockwood Company 2135040 NEW

Great speeder that needed a little initial adjustment
Only problem was a weak collector roller spring on the driven (front) end. Opened her up and found the spring to be sightly distorted. Removed and straightened it and now she's right as rain! Great little speeder at a great price.
12X Pumie PUMICE Hvy Duty Scouring Stick/Bar for Household Cleaning Toilet Sink

Great price but a few sticks cracked or unwrapped
The price for these scouring sticks was great; just slightly over half of what the "hardware" & home improvement stores charge. The only problem I encountered was that a few of the bars came without plastic wrap and a few of the wrapped ones were broken. Nevertheless, I was able to scrub the entire calcium ring off of my pool with these for a lot less money than I would have spent buying them from Lowe's or Home Depot.
