Student DW4 Cornet Mouthpiece

A nice, affordable mouthpiece

If you're looking for a nice, deep mouthpiece that helps you make a mellow cornet tone, give this a try. I've bought several of them and find them to be good quality, nicely plated, and very consistent. I don't have a "real" Wick number 4 to compare to, but from piece to piece these seem to be exactly the same. If you're looking for a screamer, this isn't what you're looking for. But how often are you looking for a screamer cornet mouthpiece? To my chops this mouthpiece feels like a Bach 7C rim with a much deeper V cup. To my ears it makes the cornet sound kindof like a flugelhorn without all the wonky tuning.

A great learning tool and a lot of fun

So far I've put together about ten of these. They all work perfectly and my assembly skills have improved significantly. Before you start, make sure you have several hours set aside, and make sure you have good light as some of the parts are very small and easy to lose track of. You will also need a sharp pointed soldering iron and fine solder -- don't try to mount the SMD components using typical 1mm (or larger) solder and a soldering gun. Also be certain to download and follow the instructions -- there are a few items that if you attempt to install them in the wrong order it just won't go together.
