Essential equipment
Most edge stitching can be run using the presser foot as an edge guide, but for wider hems, for example, this plate is the ticket. The adjustable edge guides that screw into the bed just get in the way, and putting tape on the bed leaves an annoying residue, and worse, can lift paint if left on. This plate is a hair thicker than a vintage, original unmarked plate, but has no effect and will not be noticed when sewing. The fit on my 15-91 is excellent.

Handy
Very handy for smaller, heavier edges such as holsters and sheaths and a nice complement to the traditional tandy style burnisher. As compared to the tandy style there is very little 'shoulder', or easement to the slots and I found that this tends to mushroom the edges to a greater degree. In practice, I find it best to go up one size edger and then let the wetted edge dry a bit before burnishing. One thing about cocobolo is that it is a very oily wood that will bleed dark even through a coat of lacquer. This will not in any way stain the edge being worked on, just don't leave it lying on a piece of leather for any length of time. A very generous supply of wax is included.

Well thought-out kit
1 of 1 found this helpful This kit is worth far more than the individual components in terms of having everything at hand. Best of all, there is a website address provided which will guide even a novice through the process of rewiring a potted 15/201 series motor. Also, invest in a spray can of electronic cleaning fluid (do the cleaning outdoors for safety). If you own a 15/201 series, or are considering buying one, this kit is a must, not only for the components, but for the equally valuable shortcut to on-line resources it provides. I have yet to see a potted motor, apart from one professionally serviced, and recently so, that would not benefit from a thorough cleaning and rewiring. After 50, 60 or more years, the motors are so dirty they overheat and run at a fraction of their power, yet still they run. Don't forget to replace the brushes, if needed. Once done, these motors will last a life time. Small investment, BIG return. The kit is well researched, high quality, and of proper sizing.
