Disappointed!
0 of 1 found this helpful We have tried and tried to find a Black and Decker waffle iron to replace our old one that quit. The current ones they are selling are not as good as the older model we had, although they are the same model number(G48TD). We bought a new one from a local store and the first one was broken out of the box, the second one had plates that wouldn't stay latched in place and the third one, I actually tried using. It didn't heat hot enough to bake the waffles in a normal amount of time so the waffle pulled apart when I opened it and stuck to the two grids and they were very difficult to clean. Since this one on eBay was manufactured quite a few years ago and had the same base model number (Z1-G48TD) I thought it would be good like my old one. However, to my disappointment it does not get hot enough even turned up to the highest setting. I knew as soon as I put the batter on that it didn't sizzle like it should and so I let it bake about 50% longer than usual before trying to open it. The waffle did get done; it just takes an incredibly long time to bake a batch. We are keeping it because the grids stay in place and the waffles don't stick to the grids when they are done. It is new as advertised and was in perfect condition when it arrived. It has the instruction booklet with it, which has a 1985 copyright date on it. The bottom of the waffle iron says it was made in Brazil, as advertised, and is 900 watts which is the same wattage as my old one. The new models are listed at 1200 watts.
