Absolutory worth it if you install it correctly
After seeing bad reviews on this, I decided to finally make one after installing and using mine.
installed this on my 1954 Tula Russian SKS with a Primary Arms 1-6x LPVO. First off people, if you don't know how to install an optic or scope PROPERLY you will see poor results. If you don't know what you're doing or are afraid to do it yourself, take it to someone who knows more.
Now onto my review, I was skeptical at first about getting one of these as I remember the old and bad quick mounts from the 1980s and 1990s. I decided to try it out and I'm very glad I did! Once I installed my scope rings properly, I took my set up the range and the rail HELD ZERO PERFECTLY. I first had the quick detach pin on but switched to the provided threaded pin for the rear take down pin and glad I did. Held zero perfectly, unlocked a new accuracy potential for my Russsian SKS that I never knew it had after owning this for decades.
Other notes. I had to grind off my rear take down pin on my sks to get it out, and I was lucky enough that my rear sight only took 3 wacks with a plastic punch and mallet to get off. The rail makes it kinda awkward to engage the charging handle and wish I had a longer knob on it with the rail on. Keep in mind, that each sks varies on this and will either be harder or easier to do depending on who made it. I do like it how if I wanted to bring my rifle back to stock, its very easy to do so. This does not beat drilling and tapping the receiver for a scope, but after my experience, I would say this rail is the second best option that a person can do with knowledge of basic gunsmithing. Will happily take my set up deer hunting!
