The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga (2008)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I like that it gives an unadorned account of the caste system in contemporary India. The protagonist, and his family, members of the lowest caste,are predestined by birth to be victims of an amoral, corrupt social and economic system that strips them of any and all humanity. Our protagonists opts to elude his miserable existance by any means necessary. This book compels us to think or even obsess about, given our own moral/religious leanings, if we agree with his methods? One great and entertaining read!

Great deal for your money
