These connectors worked out quite well for me. They are not exactly what was on my Japanese motorcycle but they did the job.

Speedo for BSA
I used this to replace the Smith's unit that seized up on my BSA Victor Special. It operates smoothly and actually works better than the original. The only downside is that it is slightly taller that the Smith's speedometer and does not fit quite the way it should in the rubber cup. I did some trimming on the cup and got it pretty close. I will say that, as always, Steadfast Cycles was great to deal with and shipped super fast.
