Victron Energy SmartShunt 500A/50mV Smart Battery Shunt, Bluetooth Monitor
    Jul 03, 2021
    Very Disappointing
I thought Victron was a premium product, I am so disappointed in this Shunt. I have read other reviews after I was having problems and others claim the same issues. I should have researched before purchase, stupid me. Bluetooth, you have to be within 1m of the shunt, minimum, sometimes you have to be within 500mm to get it to work, other times you have to reboot your phone to connect. I have $40 devices that perform way way better than this. It disconnects if you move about so you have to leave your phone beside the shunt to stay connected. The manual says the min distance is 20m! Yes, all software is up to date. Battery Time Remaining - it is all over the place, I have 600Ah of battery and one minute it tells me I have 4 days and next I have only a few hours and then 1 day and then 4 days again. It is so erratic it is crazy. Now it is at 10 days! Trends (graphs) - you can only get a history while the shunt is connected (with Bluetooth) and as soon as it disconnects you lose the lot, so no history! What use is this? History - can I trust this? Total Charge Cycles = 0, Average Discharge = 0, Number of Full Discharges = 0. All incorrect! So I am thinking "how can I trust the other data?" Some info looks about right but other stuff is so far out it is crazy. I am not sure what the other options/brands are but I would be researching and looking further afield.

Carter Universal Rotary Vane Electric Fuel Pump P4594 12 VOLT 72 GPH 7PSI Extern
    Mar 04, 2020
Very impressed so far but it has to last the marathon
The price seemed right, not the cheapest but was a long way from the most expensive. It came with all the brackets and everything you need to mount it and connect it up, everything worked including not needing a sealant on the barb fittings. I used additional rubber mountings that I made to keep it as quiet as possible, I believe that Carter do sell an optional kit for this as well. I was replacing a Holley Blue pump that was also mounted on my own rubber mountings to try and keep it quiet. Well, the Carter is so quiet I can not hear it running with the motor turned off. Yes I am sure it is running as I have a momentary switch to bypass the normal wiring to prime the carbies before starting (I only use the car every few months). I know it was working as I had fuel pressure. The old Holley sounded lie a 747 Jet Aeroplane compared to this Carter I can not hear. Fuel pressure is 7psi unregulated (yes I have a pressure gauge and I have regulated back to 5psi). Lets see how long it lasts, it still has to run the marathon!
16Pcs Inner Bearing Races Blind Hole Gear Bushes Extractor Puller Separator Kit

Cheap China, Low Quality Product and Engineering
This is a cheap tool and it is made in China like most stuff these days. It is poor quality but if you only use it now and then understanding you might need to modify it, it could be okay for you. I had a need to pull a bearing out of a blind hole, I tried the only puller that would fit and it failed. I think it failed because it was too small to do the job but the next size up would not fit inside the bearing. The inserts are made of poor quality steel and you can see the results in the photo compared to an unused one after two failed attempts, the steel is crap. The other reason the puller failed is the shoulders are rounded off, when I looked closely all of the pullers have different angles on them, some a sharp shoulder and others a lesser angled shoulder. The angled or rounded shoulders are a problem. Why the differences? No, they are not as they go up in size, they are all over the place. 3 examples in the photos. To overcome my problem I had to grind down the next size up puller to go in the bearing and it worked, so you can argue I had success. This is a cheapish kit, if you only do one now and then it is okay.
