Find an alternative!
0 of 3 found this helpful The idea is good. The specs are good but in practice, I'd steer clear of this device. Why?
1. XPS devices have their thunderbolt port on the LHS. Given that the hub only has 50cm thunderbolt cable you'd think Dell would put the cable coming out of the RHS of the hub. Sadly, not! This means you either have to build something to use the hub on its side or accept that there will be many wires going over yoru desk still.
2. USB C seems robust but becuase of the short hub thunderbolt wire and the long plug housing, the slightest movement of laptop or hub causes a lever effect that over time damages the USB C port on the laptop or the thunderbold cable. XPS laptops have the USB C hardwired into the motherboard, meaning replacement of a cheap component would cost £hunderds.
3. Even with Dell only products and the latest firmware and drivers, the hub is flakey. For example, wireless keybaords and mice, no matter how expensive, will periodically stutter with no explaination.
4. The XPS 15 draws 130 Watts. A hub with 240 Watt power supply will still have the XPS 15 complaining that it has an underpowered supply.

Good gadget. Worth the money for peace of mind.
This is a great addition to the Wi-Safe 2 range of wirelessly interlinked alarms. It syncronises effortlessly to the existing network and registers an alarm across all devices when tested. The only thing to be aware of is that this device does not also have a smike or heat alarm functionality.
