All the details...
3 of 3 found this helpful This book is a standard shop reference for many jewelers, including myself. It covers almost every manufacturing/production technique in detail, and has outstanding tables, charts, formulas, etc. Great information for the student as well as the seasoned pro. Also, it's written using plain language in a well laid out, user friendly format. Versions from 1991 to current are a better visual format than earlier versions. This book is a must have for anyone interested in jewelry as a student, hobbyist, designer or repairperson. McCreight has another title called Practical Casting, which is also a very good book, although geared more toward artist/student/hobbyist than professional jeweler.

Nice rig
Good heavy leather, dye doesnt rub off, very adjustable to fit most body types. Only complaint is that it's just a bit too large for a standard SAA or Vaquero. They fit, but slide just a little too deep in the pocket. Its usable, but I feel that with a lot of use and wear that it will be loose.

time for an update.
Great author, read his other books. This one has some good info, but much of the material is very dated, this was orig published in the 1980's, and appears to not have ever been updated.
