Perfect emergency Fan!
4 of 4 found this helpful I purchased this fan so that I would have air movement at night should AC power be lost. I used it recently to see how long the batteries would last. but first, I should tell about the batteries used. Because the fan requires 6 "D" cell batteries, I needed to load it with "AA" to "D" conversion adapters. So in essence, it took 18 L-Ion "AA" batteries (3 for each adapter).
The storage capacity of this battery arrangement is a fair amount less than what would be available if good quality alkaline "D" cells were used. With that said, The fan worked acceptable on high speed all night, about 8 hours. It also was still working after the second night, but at greatly diminished fan speed. Even with a full charge on the batteries, the fan turned about 20% faster when powered by AC. Still, even with the power limitations I used, I found the fan to be very adequate for my purposes.
My test was during an out of town trip. I found that the fan took little space in the car. Sooooo... In addition to being a good emergency fan, I found, as a bonus, that it is a great travel fan as well!
