Classic Cookbooks
I have most of this Time/Life series and they are my "go to" when I need some inspiration. These are fairly simple books to use and follow a recipe from; they have never let me down and this is just another that follows that same premise.

It took a village and then the World to teach Pat Conroy how to cook well!
2 of 2 found this helpful I bought this cookbook at the suggestion of a co-worker who lives in South Carolina and I have read most of his books (fiction) as well.
What I really like about this book is that Pat Conroy has stories that go with some of the recipes and where he got them: a chef, a family member, a church supper, food history of the region, etc. In addition to being well-written, the characters are presented "tongue-in-cheek" to exemplify their levity and sometimes their ribald humor.
This cook book isn't the biggest or something I for as a reference for a traditional dish EXCEPT; low country or Southern cooking.
