A satisfying sequel to a favorite game
There were many improvements from AC II established in Brotherhood: 1. crossbow 2. ability to help build the vast city of Roma 2. the Romulan Lairs (kind of an underground treasure-hunt mini-series) 3. the disappearance of Leonardo (actually a mini-series) 4. achieving synchronization with Ezio (completing missions the way he did) reveals the story of Cristina, Ezio's love, and is also a good reason to keep playing long after finishing the game 5. sword-fighting is faster and more... entertaining 6. ability to customize armor 7. new characters 8. you are the commander of your own assassin recruits and can send them on missions to make extra money, or keep them around to help you in battle, which was very new and quite nice 9. valuable items are obtainable, now, as well as florins 10. new combat options like 'kill-streak' (won't go into detail) 11. and the most important of all... horse-ringing inside the cities (I was so happy) There were some parts I saw as disappointing as well: 1. not much graphic improvement (though graphics are VERY impressive) 2. another graphic-related gripe, the water dripping from Ezio's armor looked so credible in AC II... not so much in Brotherhood 3. in all, gameplay felt shorter- don't know why- just felt it ended too quickly. I believe the fact that there is only one city available for travel in Brotherhood contributed. I would like to see multiple cities again when Revelations comes out on November 15, 2011. 4. Though Ezio's signature heavy accent hasn't changed (thankfully), his face has aged much more than necessary 5. the end did not make up for AC II's ending, but was actually worse, if that is imaginable. 6. soundtrack quality was spent on AC II, which was beautiful, but there are very nice new songs in Brotherhood as well, such as 'Echo of the Roman Ruins' (makes exploration very enjoyable in the country) 7. fast-poison sucks. I'm sorry. it just sucks. too fast. WAY too fast (cant even get away from the guard before he starts swinging his spear) 8. the plot was less compelling- I feel that Assassin's Creed II was a legacy and it embodied everything a video game should be- Brotherhood feels more like an explanation and a minor development of Ezio's life, only everybody's wrinkly :D I did not explore the multiplayer option, which was a big deal, so I may be missing out on a huge chunk of the satisfaction. Overall, good. just good. I liked II better, but any AC fan will love Brotherhood. Just buy it and have fun.
