East Broad Top Railroad: A Personal Photographic Study
This soft cover collection of photos of the East Broad Top narrow gauge steam railroad is more a personal reflection by the author than a detailed photographic tour of the railroad. The photos are what the author found interesting and compelling in photos taken over some forty years. Photographs are exclusively of the Rockhill Furnace (sometimes called Orbisonia) station, roundhouse, and shops; also included is a smaller collection of photos of the northern terminus of the EBT at Mount Union, Pennsylvania. All photos are in black and white, with some taken with an infrared camera that draws out the details in the images. The photographs depict the railroad from the days when it was still a coal hauling commercial enterprise to its second career as a tourist railroad. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone interested in the EBT or in narrow gauge steam railroads in general.

Using the Ferry Morse Timesaver Dial Seed Sower
I purchased the Ferry Morse Timesaver Dial Seed Sower, but not for sowing seeds. As a model railroader, I am always looking for clever and unique tools that can be used in my hobby. The Ferry Morse Seed Sower can be used for purposes other than sowing seeds! I use it for tiny pieces of stone used for track ballast on a model railroad. The ballast is placed in the Timesaver and applied between and alongside the rails. It is then cemented in place with matte medium available from any hobby store. The Timesaver does save time. It also makes a tedious job much faster and easier. I certainly recommend it for this purpose.

Soundtraxx Tsunami 2 Digital Decoder
The second generation of Tsunami DCC decoders is a marked improvement over the TSU-100. Half the size of the Soundtraxx Econami decoder, the Tsunami 2 packs a powerful punch. Rated at one amp, the Tsunami 2 generates much less heat than the older Tsunami, so it is ideal for installation in tight places. It also has a much larger choice of options, including lighting functions, horns, diesel prime movers, equalizer and reverb. I purchased the model 885004, which includes sound for a variety of early Baldwin diesels as well as sound effects for a Rio Grande Southern Galloping Goose. As I am installing the decoder in a small scratch built gas mechanical switcher, the Goose is exactly what I was looking for.
