HP LASERJET PRO 200 M201DW A4 DUPLEX MONO WORKGROUP LASER PRINTER CF456A#B19 NEW
    Apr 05, 2016
    Good Laserjet Printer
I looked around hard for a printer to replace my ageing Laserjet 4M PS. I needed at least 600dpi plus resolution enhancement for pcb toner transfer to make circuit boards. When I compared features old and new the M201dw was a close alternative but excelled in page speed, memory and price. The dw version has a similar back hinge cover which I use for straight through paper feeds on the old 4M. The M201dw has much more memory, a faster processor, smaller size footprint and is lighter and quieter. Connectivitiy was really good. I use wired Ethernet for Home Office, usb is fast but I haven't tried wireless yet because I want reliable comms every time! Output print quality is excellent and superior to the old 4M when I compared test prints to regular paper with a microscope. I also print to photo glossy for pcb work and those results were excellent. The M201dw has many paper thickness options to choose from . In fact it can handle thicker paper weights than the 4M. The M201dw ships with a medium usage toner cartridge, but a higher capacity cartridge is available. There are 2 paper slots and the bottom slot holds about 250 sheets 80gm, compared to 500 sheets on the 4M. The Laserjet 4M wasn't a duplex printer. The M201dw does good duplex printing and is very fast. I've permanently set the default options to Duplex which suits small Home Office where I try to produce less paper. There have been some negative reports about paper jams. I haven't found this yet and haven't tried thicker media like envelopes, card or label sheets. Having run and maintained the Laserjet 4M for many years i am fully aware of the need to use good paper and not store it in a damp area. The M201dw has good Eco power features. You can turn off the printer if you want but its standby power is very low and it comes out of standby to print from wireless or network very quickly. I found a few downsides. The supplied CD was very slow to read in my burner before the first screen came up. I had already looked on my Win7 platform and didn't see a MS driver, understandable because this is a fairly new HP product. I went with the HP CD install and regretted it afterwards. As well as essential drivers, you get a nice web interface type GUI 'toolbox' which allows the default settings to be done remotely. Unfortunately, there is also phone home aspects to their software and annoying screen popups asking if you want your cartridge 'validated' as genuine. I can appreciate HP may see problems on printers using non-OE cartridges and they make disclaimers about warranty, but they should consider that some users may want to make their own choices. This printer cartridge is used in a few other HP printer models, so it should be around and available for a while. I don't know what the expected fuser ribbon life will be. In the end I uninstalled the supplied HP printer software Suite, used MS Windows update to update the driver store and installed the basic generic drivers. You can also choose the 'Install driver from other disc' and find them on the HP CD root without installing the full HP application. When I need other print options I can set them up from MS printer properties. It is early days, but so far I have been very impressed with this printer performance for its price.
Kentiger V10 Amplifier Bluetooth Hi-Fi Class-Ab Stereo Super Bass Audio Powe M3L
    Sep 23, 2020
A Good portable and cheap 2 channel amplifier
This a cheap 2ch stereo AB amplifier that has a lot of input functionality. At 20 Watts per channel it works best with sensitive hi-fi speakers. I doubt there would be sufficient audio power to drive small cheap low sensitivity car speakers? My main criticism is the 'blinding in your face' row of leds at the top of the front panel. They don't seem to do anything useful but flash in your face! I opened my box and disconnected the board plug for a relaxing life! The functions all seem to work o.k although the remote on/off keeps the unit in standby with bright blue leds lit. This isn't something you want in a bedroom, but you can get inside and disconnect what annoys you! I'm using this with a pair of decent (old school!) speakers on a small flat screen T.V headphone socket and the volume is plenty. The T.V audio quality is now far superior to the internal T.V speakers. The treble and bass controls actually give audible boost and cut. I tried bluetooth which paired fine, although many BT modules are not high quality audio so I use the analogue phono line inputs. It needs a good 12v d.c 5 Amp power supply, although with a few more volts it will give more power. The class AB 2 channel amp chip is fixed to the box used as a heat sink. I added some more heatsink compound.

MTL-9351B +cheap fluid head + bag and it is good for DSLR HD video!
I spent a long time looking for a tripod at the right price for amateur stills and video use. I am not ready to spend on carbon fiber yet. You can pay anything from £8 to £250+ for an aluminum tripod. I have a Nikon D750 FX DSLR camera and even with a prime 50mm lens the camera is heavy, with a 24-120mm telephoto even heavier. I shoot video so I understand that 4 section tripods are more compact but can be very flexible whilst lightness often comes at the expense of stiffness. To shoot decent HD video you definitely need a fluid head. There are plenty of tripods around with friction pan and tilt heads, but they just aren't smooth enough for video panning. Once bought, most cheap tripods will not allow the head to be replaced. The other issue is the weight load spec. is often quoted for the pan and tilt head, when the tripod load can be lower! you will see some tripods sold as 5-8Kg, but that is often the head spec. The tripod itself may only be 3Kg! I was therefore looking for a headless tripod on which I could mount a cheap Yunteng fluid head with sufficient weight load for the head and camera with a modest telephoto lens. The fluid head did come with a small problem which I sorted. I hope using a relatively heavy head mount may help reduce mirror slap issues. The Giottos MTL-9351B is NOT a lightweight tripod coming in at 1.85Kg. But if you are panning with a fluid head you need a heavier solid tripod and this fits the bill. The MTL-9351B maximum weight capacity is 5Kg and that will be adequate for my camera and mount, with a little over for a sand bag. The tripod length when collapsed with my fluid head comes out at around 83cm, because it is a 3 section tripod. But you you get rigidity and that is the compromise for a tripod that will never fit in your pocket! At first I thought the MTL-9351b should have come with a bag because all the cheap tripods sell with bags. But adding the fluid head increases the closed length by 150mm and it is likely a supplied bag would be too short. All good shooters know that you should avoid raising the tripod center section if possible. With my 150mm high fluid head, the D750 eyepiece is just at the right height with the center column fully collapsed. I'm not sure how much I will use the MTL-9351B features but I may grow into using them. At the moment I just want a stable tripod for DSLR video and stills, without going up in size and weight to a pro video tripod. For the price I paid for the MTL-9351B, + £30 for the fluid head and +£11 for an 90cm tripod bag, I think I have a pretty good tripod combo.
