Morse at his finest
Fans of Inspector Morse will be thoroughly pleased. Of particular interest to me is the process by which Morse develops theories of the crimes and then methodically rules out suspects by verifying alibis, exposing lies and confirming relevant time frames. Unlike other fictional detectives, Morse is full of flaws, weaknesses and complexities. In the process of solving crimes he has multiple "aha" moments where he's sure that he's solved the case, only to subsequently determine that one stubborn fact just doesn't fit. He doesn't bend the evidence to support his theories of the case, instead he persists in assuring all of the known facts support the final conclusion.

This is a moody, compelling mystery

It's simple, not a lot of dials and choices, yes the waffles turn out well.
