The best RTL-SDR
I bought this device for a specific receiving task. I wanted to use it with the AirSpy SDR# software and the RTL_433 plugin from GitHub. I had it up and running within a couple of hours and was able to log a dozen or so low-power 433 MHz wireless devices by the next day. All this with a short indoor antenna, The RTL-SDR BLOG V4 is quite sensitive on UHF frequencies.
The value proposition lies not just in the quality of this RT:L-SDR implementation, but also in the wealth of free software for decoding a myriad of radio signals by RTL-based devices.

Does the job
This is an after-market replacement for the Sony RMT-D175 remote control, as supplied with the Sony DVD player DVP-NS550P.
It has all the same buttons as the original RMT-D175, but they are not all in the same places.
It is smaller and lighter, and also uses 2AAA batteries instead of 2 AA batteries. The buttons are closer together.
The range is not as good as that of the original Sony remote, and it needs to be pointed much more accurately at the DVD player for its commands to be recognised.
I said in the title, it does the job. but because of the range problem, I would not say that it performs well.

Useful and inexpensive USB load
Load is rated for 3.7 to 15 Volts, 0.15 to 3.0 A.
I used it only up to 5 Volts , 1.0 A.
Adjustment of current was smooth, and the current stability was good. The addition of a small brass knob on the PCB-mounted potentiometer really helped.
Most of the time the fan did NOT switch on when the unit got hot, but sometimes it did. This could be a design fault, or perhaps a fault with the unit that I received.
There is provision on the PCB for a tiny header or socket to allow selection of FAN ON / FAN OFF, but a suitable header is not fitted.
Information is not provided about what these settings mean:
Does FAN ON mean that the fan is always on?
Does FAN OFF mean that the fan is always off?
I assume that no jumper means FAN AUTO (specifications say that the fan should turn on when the temperature rises to 40 C) but as I said, it does not always work.
