Just Go With It ...
Love New Yorky novels, loved the cover design -- decided to try it. At first I was quite intrigued, but then realized that the pages were piling up and nothing much was happening. I almost abandoned it, but then suddenly it dawned on me -- while thouroughly modern in setting and situation, the pacing of the story is a throwback to the 19th century, perhaps even the 18th. To continue, it would be necessary to succumb to both the voluptuous detail and the endless probing of motive and character. So I did it -- I succumbed. For the most part it was worth it too. The characters are quirky, the underlying moral issues fascinating, and the plot leading to the delightful ending most enjoyable. But that being said, there were still spots where I would have paid her to just get on with it!

Wonderful Read!
2 of 2 found this helpful Sue Monk Kidd has proven to be a fantastic novelist since she broke away from her genre background. This is a beautiful tale, beautifully told. The characters are richly drawn and the pacing of the story perfect. I bought it for myself and have given it as gifts.

As a dealer in vintage books a document pad is a necessity. This one's large & well-stuffed. Time will tell how the cloth holds up.
