It is a new genuine and easy to replace
The quality is not the best (everything is made of plastic which affects durability), but this is what Toyota made. It is easy to replace, assuming that the compartment door is open.
If the door is unlocked with your car key and you still can't open the compartment using the door handle, don't rush to a dealer. You need to use a small wedge, a picker set (you can use even an old umbrella stretcher or something similar to a long narrow spike) and small night light.
The front plates come in 2 colors, so make sure you pick the right one that matches your original. Yet if your original plate is in good share (it usually is), then you can get a new lock in any color and replace it with your original one.
