A book that tells all about the meaning of symbols or images in one's dream
One day, during my General Psychology class, we had an activity with our professor. He told us to imagine certain things in our mind while closing our eyes. He told us to imagine a forest, animals, a house, then asked us to tell him what was the first animal we thought of, what the house looks like, what was the first thing or object upon entering the house, how many chairs there were in the dining room table, etc. Then only a selected few among us were chosen to interpret the things we imagined. It was an exciting activity because the things we imagined had something to do with our personality. I was one of the few who got to be “interpreted” by our professor. Then after the activity, he told us that we will learn more about these symbols, and especially more on dream interpretation when we take up our Masters Degree. So because of my keen interest in this subject matter I decided to get a copy of this classic book.
Although, many psychologist today don’t use Freud’s method, there’s no harm in going back to the basic foundation and get a good background on how our modern views and techniques were formed. I like this book because I am somewhat interested with the classics. I’m a traditional person in a way, such that, I still believe in courtship and I’m not really into too many hi-tech gadgets and all that stuff. Just give me a cellphone and a functional laptop, I’m good. In addition, I like this book ‘cause it’ll help me get more ideas on dreams interpretation and what is the latent meaning behind the symbols in our dreams.
One thing I don’t like about this book is that most of Freud’s interpretation when it comes to dreams is rooted from a sexual desire. Even the cover of the book emphasizes such. I find it disturbing. I don’t really believe that sexual desire is the meaning behind every latent dream. Then again, I guess I understand Freud’s situation, since he was born in a time where sexual desires are forced to be repressed, so these sexual desires are trying to surface in dreams instead.
Given a choice, I would buy this book again.
To learn the theory behind the uncosncious and to interpret the meaning of symbols or image presented in one’s dream, this book surely comes in handy.

Small tool you need to keep, lightweight with great features.
