Bike will not run

Installed the crank and found the key way for the flywheel is in the wrong location so you can not set the timing and that will not allow the bike to run and a friend of mine ran into the same exact thing on his sons 65 we both had to get cranks from ktm and then the bikes started right up so I guess all these parts are good for are paper weights
