gun does not work

Gun is not working - air locks in greasing cartridge - gun unable to clear them. Have tried putting gun in sun to heat grease and pound on front to release air pocket - works for a few strokes then same problem repeats itself. Gun needs to be able to such the air out of pocket to work properly.
