Relieved !
Buying anything described as a factory second is a gamble even though Axminster do offer a right of return if the defects are more than you consider acceptable.
I was happy to get this - a well made plane that fits my hands comfortably - at a price I could afford. The defects are minor so I am pleased with the purchase. It gives me confidence to buy other Axminster "seconds" in the future.

Useful
First impressions and use of this are good. Used with a commercial vacuum cleaner it holds to painted walls without any problem and captures dust effectively.
Unlike designs that use a brush for better sealing around the drill bit, the large size dust collecting ring works with small bits because the is enough clearance around the bit to allow you to see and drill to a mark and still provides good dust collection.
The collecting rings are easy to exchange and big enough to take some big bits !
No doubt it will work better with the proper connector on the end of the extractor hose but this is not absolutely essential.
I found this more effective and prefer it to the battery powered extractors that mount directly to the drill. Suction is far greater and the ability to see the drill bit and drill accurately to a mark is a deal breaker for me.

A useful discovery
Excellent product. I use these to protect hand and power tools against winter damp. Colour change shows how much moisture they have absorbed and they are easy to regenerate time and again. Place in the microwave, give 1 min on full to heat them up, then 10-15 mins on defrost and finally 20 mins on the lowest setting. This will drive out most of the moisture without overheating and damaging the packet.
