Blackwing's lightest
1 of 1 found this helpful This is probably the most versatile of the three grades of Blackwing. I use the Blackwing for drawing and the regular gives me true darks that are smooth and not messy the way normal 6B pencils are. The Blackwing Pearl gives me a great range of darks up to about a B grade (always depending on the type of paper used) and with the 602 I can achieve everything else I need in a drawing. My guess is that all the legends such as Steinbeck and Bernstein who used Blackwing used the 602.
