It functions.
Where to start. It was"inexpensive". It does function. Have had some issues though, the outer case popped apart very easily until I epoxied it shut and it is almost impossible to read the screen. Some of the connections are not marked is satisfactorily clear manner. All these issues make it a pain to use. Everyone who works one tinkers with or builds their own computers should have something similar, just find a higher quality unit. The only reason Im not completely upset is because it was very very inexpensive. you get what you pay for

Glad I didnt pay MSRP for this product.

It's a big beefy chunk of copper. It will fit in a 1u chassis if you have the airflow for it. The mounting backplate IS INCLUDED and seems to fir all variations of the 115x spacing. This means it will fit the 1151 Sky Lake and 1151 Kaby Lake processors and is great if you are using a low TDP processor
Negatives:
Break out the marble surface and the sandpaper of varying degrees and polishing compound. The contact surface on this was terrible and wavy. A good thermal compound and Im sure it would be fine actually but when a chunk of copper goes for almost $35 to $45 full price, I expect more. It took me and hour plus of work on a marble slab to get this thing smoothed out, lapped and polished to perfection. The smoother the surface the less thermal compound you need (up to a point).
General thoughts:
This product will fit the bill, out of the box, if you need a 1u passive 115x heatsink with mounting bracket. DON'T fully tighten it down if you use it on a Sky or Kaby Lake processor. Heavy tension has been known to damage those processors and this heatsink could possibly be capable of damaging the die or more likely the substrate. Otherwise, Generally, it's a decent and usable product. Great value if you can pick it up on sale and are willing to give it a little love and attention.

Mediocre at best, yet functional.
3 of 3 found this helpful Fit and finish. Not the greatest. Lots of sharp edges even for a budget case in this day and age. The retention mechanism that holds the 4-drive caddies in is wonky and difficult to deal with. The plastic frames for the hard drives... Trying to install drives in them I kept pushing out the mounting pins, very difficult to reinstall by hand. Fans included with the case... THROW THEM OUT IMMEDIATELY. They are noisy and cheap and all have 4 pin molex PSU type connectors instead of proper 3 pin fan or 4 pin PWM fan header connectors. You have to actually remove for screws to take out the door filter for cleaning. All that being said, when you factor in the sub $80 (U.S.) price tag, it is an incredibly sturdy and stout case that will work for a nice rack mount home NAS or some other usage. The price makes it a great value and it's hard to beat despite all the "negatives" Ive listed. Don't be scared off from it if you are looking for a factional value server or NAS case
